new procedure has been announced for sale of sand

Hingoli: Maharashtra:   A new procedure has been announced to regulate the sale of sand to combat illegal sand mining.

According to the state government’s decision on February 16, 2024, citizens will now be able to purchase sand at fixed rates for construction purposes.

This new process also aims to manage the excavation, transportation, and sale of sand effectively.

Under this new sand procurement system, sand depots have been established in various locations, such as Golgav in Unda Nag Nath Taluka, Hatta and Sengaon in Vasmat Taluka, and Limbala Tanda and Barada in Senegaon Taluka of Hingoli district.

As per government directives, tenders will be invited for the transportation of sand from rivers to the depots, depot construction, and management.

The final rate obtained through these tenders (inclusive of GST), the amount of ownership fund, the district mineral foundation fund as per government regulations, environmental fees, and applicable taxes will be charged to customers for sand transportation from the depots.

This will help determine the selling price of sand based on actual transportation costs from the depot to the customer.

Sand booking for the year 2024 can be done online through the website https://mahakhanij.maharashtra.gov.in/.

Procedure:  Upon visiting the website, click on the “SAND BOOKING” option. After clicking on SAND BOOKING, a new window will open. Then click on LOGIN. After that, click on CONSUMER SIGN UP and fill in the required information such as name, mobile number, and email ID. Once registered, log in using the username (your registered mobile number) and the password received on your mobile (OTP). Then register your project by providing details such as address, building, household, etc. After that, book the required sand for your project. Select the nearest or available stockyard. Finally, make the payment online for the booked sand and collect it from the respective stockyard after receiving the payment receipt. The transportation costs should be borne by the customer. District Collector Jitendra Papal has urged citizens to take advantage of this online application process.
