Sh. Goyal addresses 62nd Annual General Meeting of Federation of Paper Traders Associations in India
Shri Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister for Commerce & Industry and other departments, spoke at the 62nd Annual General Meeting of the Federation of Paper Traders Associations in India in New Delhi. He emphasized that the paper industry will continue to thrive with India’s economic growth, highlighting its sustainable and recyclable nature as key in the circular economy. Despite the digital era, paper remains important for communication, branding, and packaging.
The Minister stressed the need for quality, competitiveness, and innovation in the paper industry, focusing on sustainability and recycling. He urged for self-reliance in expanding domestic production and developing new paper types to replace single-use plastics, seeing potential in export markets, especially through innovative packaging.
Addressing concerns about paper imports, Shri Goyal advised industry members to report any unfair practices to the Director General of Trade Remedies. He concluded by praising the paper industry’s role in India’s growth and its contribution to the country’s journey towards becoming a developed nation.(pib)
