Ajit Pawar criticized the Congress members and opposition leaders, including Vijay Wadettiwar, stating that there is no need to bash the government regarding Girish Bapat’s demise.
He expressed his disagreement with the opportunistic politics played by the BJP and highlighted the need for a fair election process to fill the vacant position left by Bapat.
Vijay Wadettiwar, a Congress leader, emphasized that the Congress party will contest the Pune Lok Sabha by-elections and asserted that there will be no uncontested elections in Pune.
He criticized the BJP for consistently engaging in uncontested elections and stated that the Congress will participate actively in the electoral process.
Ajit Pawar reacted to Vijay Wadettiwar’s statement, expressing his view through the media. He questioned the necessity of bashing the government, especially considering that only three days have passed since Girish Bapat’s demise. He pondered whether such behavior is in line with societal norms and urged for a more respectful discourse.
Furthermore, he responded to the speculation about the presidential post within the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), stating that he does not feel the need for presidential elections at this time.
Jitendra Patil, the president of the Nationalist Congress Party, had earlier mentioned the possibility of presidential elections within the party. Ajit Pawar’s remarks indicate his reluctance towards engaging in opportunistic political maneuvers and emphasize the importance of respectful and fair political processes.
