Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the new headquarters of the National Cooperative Dairy Federation of India (NCDFI) in Gujarat and spoke at the e-Market Awards 2023. He mentioned that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, India’s milk production has grown by 51% in 8 years, the fastest in the world. Now, India is the top milk producer globally, with 24% of the world’s production, mostly through cooperative dairies.
He emphasized that trading milk through cooperatives benefits farmers, villages, and the country, as it prevents exploitation of milk producers. These cooperatives also support nutrition for pregnant women and children, helping in the fight against malnutrition.
Shah praised Modi for leading digital and other revolutions in India. He noted India’s rapid growth in digital transactions and expects it to be a world leader soon. He encouraged milk union officials to learn about the economic model that supports cooperatives and urged NCDFI to focus on natural farming.

Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah explained that the National Cooperative Dairy Federation of India (NCDFI) will support these dairies, providing guidance. The new NCDFI headquarters, costing about Rs 32 crore and fully powered by solar energy, will be built in Anand district, a significant location in the history of India’s White Revolution. The building will be eco-friendly and cover an area of 7,000 square meters.(pib).
