On January 14, 2024, Shri Ajay Bhatt, the Defense State Minister of India, visited the DRDO’s Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Missile Complex in Hyderabad. He looked at the missile technologies and programs at the Research Centre Imarat (RCI). Sri U Raja Babu, the Director General of Missiles & Strategic Systems, and other lab directors briefed him about various technological developments.
Shri Ajay Bhatt spoke about the importance of using DRDO’s knowledge and facilities to help small and medium-sized businesses and private industries. This, he said, would help build a strong, independent defense industry in India. He also mentioned that DRDO should aim to become a global leader in exporting weapons and noted the importance of defense in space.(pib)
The minister saw different missile systems and technologies made by DRDO. He praised the DRDO scientists for their successful work on missiles like AGNI-PRIME, AKASH, AKASH-NG, VSHORADS, PRALAY, etc. He also appreciated the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Missile Complex for making advanced technologies in India and supporting the country’s goal of being self-reliant in defense, known as “Atmanirbhar Bharat“.
