Economic Explosive Limited factory in Bajargaon, Chakdoh, Nagpur district, resulted in the tragic death of 9 workers. Dr. Suresh Khade, the Minister, informed the legislative assembly about the ongoing investigation into the incident across all relevant departments.
According to Rule 97, an initial discussion was held where Ambadas Danve, Praveen Datke, Sachin Ahir, and Shashikant Shinde were present. Dr. Khade stated that among the deceased workers, 8 were registered under the Worker’s State Insurance Scheme and are entitled to benefits, while compensation for the remaining deceased worker’s family is pending. The government announced financial aid from various funds for the families of the deceased workers.
The factory management has agreed to provide jobs to the dependents of the deceased workers and take responsibility for the education of the children of two workers who lost their lives in the explosion.
Solar Industries India Limited, the factory where the explosion occurred, produces explosives used in the protection sector. The factory employs approximately 3,400 workers and engages in the production of pellets used in manufacturing hand grenades.
The tragic incident happened on December 17, 2023, during the morning shift at Casting Process House Number 2 within the factory premises. While sieving TNT flakes around 9:00 AM, an explosion occurred, resulting in the death of 9 workers, including 6 women and 3 men.
- Authorities, including the District Magistrate, officials from Industrial Safety and Health, Senior Officers, Police personnel, Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, Anti-Terrorism Squad, Forensic experts, Police Inspectors, and Commissioners, have investigated the site, and further inquiries and actions are ongoing by the State Disaster Response Team present at the scene, as highlighted by Minister Dr. Khade.
