Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar railway station will undergo a makeover within 30 months, with a budget of ₹241 crore approved under the ‘AMRUT Bharat Station’ scheme by the central government.
The construction work will be carried out through Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC), ensuring timely payments to contractors.
The industrialization of the city and station premises is expected due to international airport development nearby. The existing building will be renovated to accommodate various offices, and security personnel will be shifted to facilitate the process.
The contract has been awarded to G.S. Express Company, with L.N. Malviya Company chosen as the project manager.
The development aims to make the station a model railway station, benefitting senior citizens and disabled passengers with facilities like lifts and CCTV surveillance.
Additional security personnel will be deployed to prevent unauthorized entry, and old buildings will be renovated to provide modern amenities like pre-paid taxi counters, executive lounges, children’s parks, and medical shops.
A multilevel car parking and improved facilities on all platforms will be provided.
With the development work slated to take place on international airport grounds, the industrialization of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar city and station premises is on the horizon. Currently, in the second phase, work has begun on constructing a building covering 255 square meters on a vacant plot, where the General Railway Police, Railway Protection Force, Crime Branch, and other offices will be relocated.
