India celebrated National Girl Child Day on January 24, 2024, focusing on empowering and valuing girls. The day included activities like a painting competition, tree planting, and cultural performances by children from various care institutions. The event, led by Minister Dr. Munjpara Mahendrabhai, highlighted the government’s commitment to changing societal attitudes towards girls through initiatives like “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao”. The day emphasized women’s progress in various fields and aimed to inspire young girls towards a developed India. Additionally, a 5-day campaign across the country included activities like distributing stickers, hosting workshops on menstrual hygiene, tree planting, and celebrating local female achievers in various fields.
The event concluded with an oath-taking ceremony where participants pledged against all forms of gender-biased discrimination. In total, 207 children from Child Care Institutions (CCIs) actively participated in the program, making it a memorable and impactful occasion.
