Ministry of Education launches various international projects

Under India’s G20 Presidency, the Education Working Group (EdWG) focused on developing collaborative strategies for the future of education, covering foundational learning, tech-enabled education, lifelong learning, and research collaboration among G20 countries. Various seminars and meetings were held across India in 2023, addressing these themes. The G20 Education Ministers’ Meeting in Pune concluded with the G20 Outcome document and Chair’s Summary, outlining key educational priorities and sharing successful policies and programs. The event also included bilateral meetings with multiple countries and international organizations. Additionally, the ‘Jan Bhagidari’ initiative engaged over 5.25 crore citizens across India in various programs, making G20 a widespread public movement.

During the India-US 2+2 Dialogue in 2022, the India-US Working Group on Education and Skill Development was launched virtually on May 22, 2023. This group formed four sub-committees focusing on skilling and vocational education, certification and recognition, matchmaking between U.S. and Indian higher educational institutions, and engaging with the private sector, aiming to boost educational collaboration between India and the USA.

A committee led by Shri Anil Sahasrabudhe visited the UAE on September 18-19, 2023, to discuss degree equivalence from Indian universities. Later, from November 1-3, 2023, India’s Education Minister, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, led a delegation to the UAE, where a Memorandum of Understanding in education was signed between India and the UAE.

Australian Education Minister Jason Clare visited India in early 2023 and again in November. Key outcomes include:

1. Signing a mechanism for mutual recognition of qualifications.

2. Discussions on student visas, research collaboration, and a joint skilling framework.

3. Announcement of the International Education Innovation Fund by Australia.

4. Signing of 11 institutional MoUs and later, five more for collaboration in skills, academics, and research.

5. The first Australia-India Education and Skills Council Meeting focusing on workforce development, institutional partnerships, and research internationalization.

6. Visits to educational institutions and events celebrating Australian university campuses in India.

Union Minister for Education Shri Dharmendra Pradhan visited Singapore from May 29-31, 2023, meeting various Singaporean Ministers and visiting educational institutions. The 3rd India-Singapore hackathon took place in July at IIT Gandhinagar, organized by AICTE and NTU Singapore. Union Minister of State, Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, attended the 10th BRICS Education Ministers’ Meeting in South Africa in July. The Study in India Portal was launched in August 2023 to facilitate foreign students seeking admission in Indian Higher Education Institutions.
