A public meeting regarding the redevelopment of Dharavi will be held in Dharavi on March 1st. Scheduled for 5:00 PM at Pearl Residencies on Shiv-Mahim Link Road.
The meeting has been organized by the farmers and laborers’ union.
The Adani Group is set to undertake the redevelopment of Dharavi, which includes providing homes to eligible and ineligible residents within Dharavi itself. Eligible residents will receive homes measuring 500 square feet, while ineligible residents will be relocated to Mulund or Wadala, where they will be provided with homes measuring 350 square feet.
There is opposition from Dharavi residents to all these proposals. Dharavi residents strongly oppose the redevelopment project, demanding that redevelopment should happen within Dharavi itself, with each resident getting a 500 square feet home.
However, they allege that the Dharavi redevelopment project is being pushed forward without proper consultation with the residents.
To express their anger, Dharavi residents have organized a public meeting on March 1st to voice their opposition to the Adani Group and to bring their grievances to the attention of the state government.
The meeting will be held at 5:00 PM near Pearl Residencies on Shiv-Mahim Link Road and is expected to draw a large crowd. Dharavi residents have vowed not to leave Dharavi and refuse to be relocated elsewhere. This determination will be emphasized at the meeting.(from sources).
