The report of the statewide survey conducted to investigate the demands of the Maratha community has been submitted.

The chairman of the State Backward Class Commission, retired Justice Sunil Shukre, presented the report to Chief Minister @mieknathshinde today. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was also present. When the report was being presented at ‘Varsha‘ residence this morning, members of the commission were also present.

At this time, the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde praised their efforts. It was informed during the meeting of the Chief Ministers that preparations were underway to complete this survey on the battlefield.

 the report says:

As the Maratha community qualifies for reservation under clauses 15 (4) and 16 (4) of the Constitution due to its social and economic backwardness, if reservation is applied to the Maratha community, the reservation limit of 50 percent will be exceeded. However, the State Backward Class Commission has recommended reservation for the Maratha community in adverse circumstances.

Proposals outlined in the report:

The Maratha community was given 12 percent reservation in jobs by the Supreme Court, while 13 percent reservation was implemented in education. To maintain this reservation of 12 and 13 percent, reservation should be given around 10 percent according to the criteria of the law (government proposal).

A decision will be taken on how much reservation should be given after the acceptance of the report by the State Cabinet.

It has been informed by high-ranking sources that reservation will be around 10 to 12 percent in this range.
