Rajasthan High Court: Right to Organize Religious Events, but Roads Should Not Be Obstructed – Court Gives Instructions to Administration. The Rajasthan High Court has issued directions to the Jodhpur Collector and Police.
The Rajasthan High Court, while dealing with issues caused by a traffic jam on a main highway due to religious celebrations, stated that truly honoring Lord Ram means following his ideals, not just celebrating. The court noticed that the road blockages, especially the one leading to the High Court, caused problems for lawyers, staff, and judges. They directed the Police Commissioner and District Collector to ensure roads, especially those leading to the High Court, are not blocked for future events like processions, sit-ins, and religious celebrations. The court turned this issue into a public interest litigation (PIL) for further action and to prevent similar situations in the future.
