SABARIMALA (KERALA): Tamil playback singer P K Veeramanidasan was presented with this year’s prestigious Harivarasanam award at a ceremony held at Sannidhanam on Monday.

“This is a very happy and proud moment for me,” he said.

Kerala Devaswom Minister K Radhakrishnan bestowed the award, which includes a purse of Rs 1,00,000 and a citation, according to an official release.

Veeramanidasan, known for his devotionals, has lent his voice to over 6,000 spiritual songs in languages such as Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Sanskrit. (PTI)

Emphasizing the teamwork involved in music, Veeramanidasan pointed out that outstanding musical works are born from the joint efforts of lyric writers, music directors, orchestras, and vocalists.

He ended the function with a moving performance of an Ayyappa devotional track before exiting the stage.

The ceremony also featured the minister unveiling a spiritual music album called “Ayyan Vazhum Poomala,” created by Kuriakos Maniattukudi, who lives in America.
