“The Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy mentioned that the cost of storage for Pumped Storage Projects is reasonable. As a result, there are no intentions to offer extra financial support, known as Viability Gap Funding, for these projects.” There is no provision for allocation of PSPs ( Pumped Storage Projects) to the private sector on nomination basis in the aforesaid guidelines.
At present, no proposal for allocation of PSPs to private sector on nomination basis is under consideration.
PSPs currently under construction of capacity of 2,780 MW are under construction in the country are –
- Tehri PSS on Ganga river in Uttarakhand , Pinnapuram on Pennar river in Andhra Pradesh, Kundah PSP Ph-I, II & III on Couvery in Tamilnadu, and Koyna Left Bank on Krishna river in Maharashtra.
