The Legislative Council (Vidhan Parishad) regarding various measures to control accidents on the prosperous Maharashtra highway.Minister Shambhuraj Desai provided information about implementing diverse plans to improve road safety and reduce accidents. During the discussion, Member Mahadev Janakar raised questions regarding accidents on the Prosperous Maharashtra Highway in Vaizapur, Sambhaji Nagar district. The discussion included participation from opposing members Ambadas Danve, Anil Parab, Satyajeet Tambe, Pramod Ram Shinde, Praveen Darekar, and Amol Mitkari.

Minister Shri Desai mentioned that to prevent accidents, the Transport Department has appointed 8 squads, and the Highway Police Department has appointed 14 squads. Guidance centers have been set up at toll booths on the Prosperous Maharashtra Highway to educate vehicle drivers and passengers, promoting road safety awareness. They conduct guidance sessions for drivers, vehicle inspections, and tire checks at toll booths along the Prosperous Maharashtra Highway.

Information about permits for passengers and vehicles in intercity buses is conveniently displayed through ‘Fit-to-Travel’ boards. Regular inspections are conducted by the Transport Department on All India Permit and All Maharashtra Environment-friendly contract vehicles.

Each of the 8 districts through which the highway passes has been allocated one inspection squad in the Transport Department. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation has provided eight vehicles to facilitate inspections along the highway. These inspections aim to enforce traffic discipline, raise awareness about road safety, and provide guidance to drivers, among other road safety-related tasks.

Until December 1, 2023, approximately 4,500 vehicle drivers have received guidance along the Prosperous Maharashtra Highway.
