The UN Human Rights group has criticized the way police in Sri Lanka are dealing with drugs. They are worried because the police are using a lot of force and not focusing on health and human rights. Since December 17, about 29,000 people have been arrested for drug-related issues. There are also reports that some of these people have been mistreated. This criticism comes after Sri Lanka started a big operation called ‘Yukthiya’ to stop the drug problem by June 30 and catch all the drug dealers.(PTI).
