- Minister Shambhuraj Desai has shared plans in the legislature to reduce accidents and ensure proper traffic discipline on the Maharashtra Prosperity Highway. These initiatives include appointing 8 road squads from the Transport Department and 14 highway police squads, setting up guidance centers at toll plazas for driver and passenger awareness, conducting road safety public awareness campaigns, and regularly inspecting vehicles and tires at toll booths.
- Furthermore, there’s a systematic inspection of vehicles with national and state permits, involving Transport Department authorities. Each of the 8 districts through which the highway passes has one inspection squad from the Transport Department. Additionally, eight vehicles have been provided by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation for these squads to improve transportation discipline and raise awareness regarding road safety.
- In the Sambhaji Nagar district’s Vaizapur area, legal action has been taken against two assistant motor vehicle inspectors regarding accidents. Financial aid has also been provided to families affected by fatalities through a relief fund. The road safety plan has been actively implemented, involving vehicle inspections and renewing qualification certificates. This information was shared by Minister Desai.
As of December 1, 2023, approximately 4,500 vehicle drivers have been educated on road safety measures along the Prosperity Highway.
