Vice Admiral Vineet McCarty became the Commandant of the Indian Naval Academy in Ezhimala

Vice Admiral Vineet McCarty became the Commandant of the Indian Naval Academy in Ezhimala on January 15, 2024. He joined the Indian Navy on July 1, 1989, and has studied at Defence Service Staff College and National Defence College. As a specialist in Gunnery and Missiles, he was part of the commissioning crew of INS Delhi and served on various guided missile destroyers. His roles included being an Executive Officer on different naval vessels and commanding ships like INS Ajay and INS Shivalik.

 

His off-ship duties involved training roles at the Naval Academy, planning at Eastern Naval Command, and working as Defence Adviser in Singapore and the Philippines. Before becoming Commandant, he was in charge of Capability Development and Combat Policy at Naval Headquarters and led the Western Fleet.
