Virat Kohli sets a new world record in 2023

Virat Kohli  (28th December) added another world record to his career. Virat Kohli makes 2,000 international runs in a year for 7th time, breaks Sangakkara’s record. He became the first player to cross 2000 international runs in seven different calendar years! During his 15th Test match against South Africa, Virat Kohli scored more than 1252 runs, beating Rahul Dravid’s record against South Africa. Kohli is now the third highest scorer for India in Test matches against South Africa. He’s close to overtaking Virender Sehwag, who is in second place with 1306 runs in 15 Tests. Sachin Tendulkar is at the top of the list with 1741 runs in 25 Tests.

Virat Kohli took 45 innings and 48 matches to score 2000 runs in one-day international cricket (ODIs). He was the fourth fastest player to achieve this. He reached this milestone on June 8, 2011, against the West Indies. In total, Kohli played 53 innings in 56 games to get to 2000 ODI runs, making him the 20th fastest player to do so. This was reported on December 12, 2023.
