What Raj Thackeray said on EVMs use in elections!

Elections in India are conducted with the help of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), but many opposing parties demand the banning of EVMs.

Criticism against EVMs leads to demands for their discontinuation from various opposition groups. Even Raj Thackeray, the chief of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), has raised serious questions about EVMs.

He pointed out that because of EVMs, voters don’t receive any confirmation about whom they voted for. Therefore, there’s uncertainty about whether their vote has been registered correctly. Thackeray raised this issue today (24th February) during a press conference.

Raj Thackeray said,

“In countries around the world, voting used to be done on paper ballots. It was done with the help of pens. But now, we are relying on EVMs. After pressing a button, it’s unclear whom you voted for. When I cast my vote, I don’t even know if it’s registered correctly. Only one voice comes out. Nothing else is clear. Do voters get the vote they intended to cast? “बटन दाबल्यानंतर कोणाला मतदान केले हेच समजत नाही. माझं मतदान झालंय की झालं नाही हेदेखील समजत नाही. फक्त एक आवाज येतो. यापलीकडे काहीही कळत नाही. मतदाराने ज्याला मतदान केले आहे, त्यालाच मत मिळते का?”

Thackeray posed such questions during his presence. Additionally, he mentioned that there used to be a rule of getting a slip after voting. This facility is not available everywhere.

Devendra Fadnavis’s reaction

In response to Thackeray’s comments, Devendra Fadnavis made a sarcastic remark. “Raj Thackeray used to have a favorable opinion about EVMs before. Now, he doesn’t seem to find them suitable. Soon, he will need to appreciate EVMs once again,” . “राज ठाकरेंना याआधी ईव्हीएम चांगली वाटत होती. आता त्यांना ती योग्य वाटत नाहीये. लवकरच त्यांना ईव्हीएम पुन्हा एकदा चांगली वाटायला लागेल,”

Raj Thackeray’s reaction on inclusion in the Mahayuti of the MNS

Meanwhile, for the past few days, there has been speculation about the inclusion of Raj Thackeray’s MNS in the alliance of the BJP and Shiv Sena (Shinde group). Thackeray has also commented on this issue. He said,

“Seeing two leaders sitting together on a platform with leaders from other parties doesn’t mean an alliance has been formed. Just because two leaders sit together doesn’t mean there’s an alliance.

In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections, our party has held three to four meetings in Mumbai. Now, we are holding meetings with branch heads.

We are holding meetings for Lok Sabha constituency unions in Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan, and Bhiwandi. Our groundwork is in progress,” Thackeray stated.
